Counterfeit copies of the highly sought-after Under The Pink promotional digipak first surfaced on eBay in 2018. To our knowledge, there are two versions of this counterfeit that currently exist, both of which are documented here. We believe these are likely "one-offs" at this time. Both contain authentic CDs in a counterfeit digipak, as the discs themselves are much easier to obtain.

The first known sale of a counterfeit (see Variation: First Sold) was sold on eBay in early 2018. It can easily be differentiated from the original, even in images online. The text in certain areas is mis-positioned on the front, spine, and back; most of the text is black rather than a dark navy; and a wisp of hair is missing over Tori's arm. Other differences become more apparent if you have both in hand: the texture is matte while the authentic is glossy, the colors are washed out, and the image is significantly more grainy than the original. If truly a one-off, this copy is out of circulation and not likely to be listed again.

Later the same year, another version of this CD was discovered when someone contacted a TAD administrator to help authenticate the copy they purchased privately from the same seller. Upon confirming that it was counterfeit, the collector returned the CD. In 2022, that exact copy was listed for sale on eBay again by the same seller. Again, the buyer discovered that it was not authentic and returned the CD. Many of the obvious mistakes are not present in this version, but there is one tell-tale sign that can be seen in detailed photographs: in the fine text at the bottom on the back, the "e" in "A Time Warner Company" is missing. On the original, it is present and partially obscured by the fold between the back and spine. Like the other counterfeit, this version also has black text rather than navy, a matte finish, dull color, and grainy artwork.

There is a possibility that this CD could be listed again or recreated (perhaps even more convincingly), so it is wise to ask many questions and request detailed photographs before purchasing. Collectors are welcome to contact the TAD team to request our opinion on authenticity.
